Short biographic statement

Charles François, was born in Belgium in 1922. He studied Consular and Commercial Sciences at Brussels Free University. He stayed from 1945 to 1960 at Belgian Congo creating and developping his own commercial business and also studying and writing chronicles about social developments; later on he moved to Argentina and was in charge of the Commercial Office of the Belgian Embassy in Buenos Aires from 1966 to his retirement in 1987. His interest in Cybernetics and Systems started in 1952 through Norbert Wiener´s fundational work on "Cybernetics", and in 1955 he established contact with the Society for General Systems Research (now International Society for the Systems Sciences). In 1973 he began to give lectures and tutorials within the Argentine Scientific Society and in 1976 he founded and was elected president of the Argentine Association for the Study of Systems and Cybernetics (GESI), Argentine Branch of the ISSS, being presently its Honorary President. At that moment he established closed connections with the spanish, peruvian and mexican systems societies with the purpose to connect all of them, and propiciete the creation of other groups of study. He was distinguished as Honorary Presidente of ALAS (Asociación Latinoamericana de Sistémica) in 2006.
